In A Good Man is Hard to Find by Flannery O’Connor, this story is about a family that goes on vacation to Florida, but while on the way they get into a car crash and stumble upon a few criminal misfit. These misfits end up murdering the entire family because of their moral code and beliefs. The grandmother tells the men that they are “good”, which is not the case.
In Flannery O’Connor’s entry on the unnamed grandmother in A Good Man is Hard to Find, we learn that she lives with her son Bailey and his family, she considered herself as a morally superior woman. The grandmother had originally tried to convince the family to go on a vacation to Tennessee instead of going to Florida, because they always go on vacation to Florida. Without listening to her opinion, the family decided to stick with their original plan and go on vacation to Florida instead. On the way to Florida, the grandmother remembers an old house that she used to visit, and tries to convince the family to stop and view it. With the children’s help, Bailey the father tries to pull over so that they can see this old plantation house. This leads to a crash in the woods where a few misfits wonder upon them. After they had crashed, the grandmother remembers that the house she was thinking about was actually in Tennessee.
Bailey is the son of the grandmother, and the head of this family. While on their road trip to Florida whenever his mother gave him the idea to visit the old planation house, which he decided to do…
