Provide an example of how American popular culture has influenced other countries, or how the United States has imported popular culture from other countries. Globalization is when cultures, countries, etc, share ideas and their cultures with one another. Popular culture is affected by globalization, because trends are often shared between cultures, and some catch on in other cultures and stay, while some trends fail. Yoga, for example was adopted from India, and is very popular in America now. It has had great success here, as it is a very healthy activity to partake in. It’s certainly not for everybody, but not every trend is.

2. Choose an advertisement. Analyze the ad for its media message. Answer the following questions based on that ad.

• Who created the media message? Why? Audi – They are showing that Mercedes and BMW vehicles are the “old” luxury, and they are the “new” luxury. • Who is the intended audience?
