The Island Essay
The idea living in an isolated compound which is being governed by someone who applies a system that the residents should go after, and making them to believe that there is no life outside that community because of the said contamination with the exception of what they called an “island” and conducting a lottery wherein the one who won the game will leave the compound and will go to the island is somehow impressive and smart. It is so futuristic that there where high speed motorcycle, the biggest hologram display, and skyways. It is like building the most ideal community in which there were no quandary and there, in reality, lies behind a paradise. But for me, knowing the reason of making them and being not a real human being is so much immoral because even they are just clones, they have souls, they understand us and still acts like us. They have souls. The movie shows human selfishness. It is raising the mind of people that someday, cloning will be that possible and which are connected to ideas of stem cell therapy, issues of euthanasia and also artificial insemination.
All in all, like me who studies sciences, a make believe that somehow, it was really a help for all of us, but still, we are given a life which is comparable to an hourglass, with different sizes, that tells us that we are all meant to leave the world on the right time.
