Beauty does not come in measurements; it’s not a weekly paycheck or something to be calculated. Water is an essential resource. 1.2 trillion gallons of untreated sewage, storm and industrial waste are thrown into US waters annually. Polluted drinking waters are a problem for about half of the world’s population. If people paid more mind to water pollution as they do to their cell phones, our pure sources would remain beautiful.
Humans are the cause of water pollution and eventually the process will affect us all. In many nations, there is always an outbreak of cholera and diseases as a result of drinking water from contaminated waters. Water-borne diseases are infectious and spread through contaminated water. Diseases are spread either directly, through flies or filth. Water is the medium for the spread of diseases, hence “water-borne diseases”. Most of them are much more common in areas with poor sanity conditions. Hepatitis, cholera, dysentery, and typhoid are the more common water-borne diseases that affect large populations. “Natural conditions have been and are drastically affected by mans activities” (Hennigan 1969). What some of us do not realize is that our actions now affect our future later. Water pollution is any chemical, biological or physical change in the quality of water, which has a harmful effect on any living thing that drinks, uses or lives in it.
